Littleton- upon- Severn is a major seaside village with roots stretching back to Norman England. Recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, the village has remained small and peaceful for centuries, girdled by cropland and the natural beauty of the Severn and its lovely scenary. Its quiet charm and traditional character continue to make it one of the area’s hidden gems.

In 1885, Littleton-upon-Severn became the centre of national attention when a 68-foot whale washed ashore nearby on the River Severn. Thousands of visitors travelled to the village to see the enormous creature, with special trains even being arranged for the occasion. The area where it landed is still known today as “Whale Wharf”, preserving one of the village’s most unusual stories
